This blog has come to fruition as a result of a Tweet Karen Stadler (Cape Town, South Africa) sent out asking which other classes around the globe were taking part in the Peace Crane Project. The Art teacher at her school had just signed up for all the Grade 6’s (92 in total) to participate. In no time Kerry Muste (Perth, Australia) replied saying her students were taking part and that Melvina Kurashige (Honolulu, Hawaii) was also taking part with her 6th Graders. Soon we were having a Twitter discussion about how we could connect our students in true #globalclassroom style, and we brainstormed a few ideas as to how we could collaborate. This is all still at the drawing board stage, but we will be blogging, sharing our poetry and sending peace cranes to each other via regular mail too.

The International Day of Peace is celebrated annually on 21 September, so we are all furiously making our cranes to have them ready on time.
