Peace Day Celebration at St. Ignatius

Our school had a wonderful time celebrating International Peace Day with the Crane Project this week!  Students ages 5 – 14 took part.  Please watch this video to see our experience.  I now have about 250 cranes to mail.  I like the idea the other teachers have of sending a few to each of the schools participating in this project as well as to our partner school.

Hello from St. Ignatius School

School - New entrance

Hello from the eastern half of the United States!  We are the students and teachers at St. Ignatius of Antioch School in Yardley, Pennsylvania, which is located about 30 miles northeast of Philadelphia.  St. Ignatius is a Catholic School with 300 students in Grades PreK to 8th grade, ages 3 – 14.  We are very excited to be taking part in International Peace Day.  Last year we took part by doing the Pin Wheels for Peace Project.

Our partners for Cranes for Peace is the Cowandilla Primary School from Adelaide, Australia.  We started the project last week by having the older students learn how to make cranes in Art class.  This week, the younger students will decorate their papers.  On Friday, the older children will pair up with the younger children to help them fold it into a crane shape.  We will also be having a Peace Day Prayer Service at the end of the day.  Next week we will box up our cranes and mail them off to Australia.  We are looking forward to sharing our experience with you!
