Reblogged from the Mid-Pacific Institute (Hawaii) Website: Peace Crane Project

Thursday, Sept. 19, sixth and eighth grade students of teacher Melvina Kurashige folded origami cranes for the Peace Crane Project. Students shared short messages/poems of Peace on or inside of their origami crane and wrote “HEIWA” (Peace in Japanese) in Hiragana and Kanji. The cranes folded by MPI students will be sent to South Africa and Japan.

The Peace Crane Project is designed to raise awareness of the United Nations International Day of Peace on September 21, and promote the concept of peace within and among our schools, homes, communities, states, and nations. Everyone around the world; students, community groups, families, and individuals are invited to participate.
